LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE PIPE - LDPE
Y.B. produces Low density polyethylene pipes in addition to high density polyethylene pipes.
Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a thermoplastic made from oil. It was the first grade of polyethylene, produced in 1933 by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) using a high pressure process via free radical polymerisation. Its manufacture employs the same method today.
LDPE is defined by a density range of 0.910 - 0.940 g/cm³. It is unreactive at room temperatures, except by strong oxidizing agents, and some solvents cause swelling. It can withstand temperatures of 80 °C continuously and 95 °C for a short time. Made in translucent or opaque variations, it is quite flexible, and tough to the degree of being almost unbreakable. It has more branching (on about 2% of the carbon atoms) than HDPE, so its intermolecular forces (instantaneous-dipole induced-dipole attraction) are weaker, its tensile strength is lower, and its resilience is higher. Also, since its molecules are less tightly packed and less crystalline because of the side branches, its density is lower. PE32 is used for production of LDPE Pipe.
LDPE Pipe, which is also known as soft PE pipe, is produced according to the standards TS 418/2, DIN8072, DIN8073 and EN12201.
When compared to other plastics, PE shows excellent diffusion resistance, and because of this property, polyethylene has been successfully used for the safe conveyance of gases for many years. Polyethylene has good resistance to acids and caustic substances. Resistant to organic and inorganic solvents at a wide range of temperatures. It is not resistant to strong oxidising acids.
UTLILIZATION FIELDS
- Potable water
- Greenhouse and irrigation systems
- Transporting chemicals
ADVANTAGES
- Resistance to acids, caustic substances, organic and inorganic solvents
- Good material strength and fatigue resistance
- Operating temperature range -40°C to +65°C
- Mechanical compression joint up to 125mm or Fusion Welded
- Installation cost is lower comparing to HDPE
- 50, 100, 150 meters of pipe can be produced, hence it can be easily installed in one go
- As these kind of pipes are flexeble and long, they can easily inserted in to old formerly installed pipes, hence no need to drill again.
- Without joints easy installation under the sea, river, lake etc.Because of less joints, lower pressure lost. |
